Discovering the Lot region

Cajarc – 8 km

Between Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Figeac, in the Lot valley, Cajarc follows the curve of the high ocher cliffs surrounding the city. Pompidou, Françoise Sagan and Coluche lived there. tourisme-figeac.com/cajarc

Figeac – 15 km

Native town of Champollion, the small medieval town has beautiful streets and houses, built in the typical regional architecture. A must see: the Musée Champollion - Scriptures of the world. tourisme-figeac.com

St Cirq Lapopie – 30 km

The medieval town of Saint-Cirq Lapopie, with thirteen listed historic buildings, is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Perched on a cliff three hundred feet above the river Lot, St. Cirq Lapopie is one of the most important sites in the Lot Valley, like a sentinel on an outcrop of rock. Indeed, the town was a fortress that stood guard over the valley and kept close watch on all the traffic passing up and down the river. saint-cirqlapopie.com

Rocamadour - 50 km

Rocamadour, the sacred city. The city was built in several stages on a cliff. It hangs above a canyon with a river flowing. Its houses, roofs and churches seem to be part of the rock that falls from the Causse. You are close to the Dordogne valley and to the famous Padirac caves. rocamadour.com

Perch Merle cave – 30 km

The Pech Merle cave is one of the most beautiful examples of prehistoric artistic expression, remarkably preserved for some 25,000 years. The cave is situated close to the village of Cabrerets. It overlooks the valleys of the Sagne and the Célé, in the Quercy region.

Cloup d’Aural phosphate mines – 30 km

In the XIX century an opencast phosphate mining activity revealed fossils of the Tertiary flora, dated between 52 and 18 million before our era, in an astonishing "tropical atmosphere" ... . Guided tours of the mine and thematic spaces combined with a treasure hunt for all are organised daily in season.

Gouffre de Padirac – 50 km

The Gouffre of Padirac is the first underground world site in France. Dive into the heart of the Earth, to observe the wonders patiently carved by waterdrops through millenia.
